Aga Khan School collected 3240 points to defend the 16th National Independence Gala title at Kampala International School (KISU), Bukoto over the weekend.
Green Hill came second with 2155 points while British School of Kampala inspired by siblings Kirabo Namutebi, 12, and Tendo Mukalazi, 15, were third with 1562.
Namutebi had a total 177 points to top her age group while Mukalazi garnered 150.
However it was his Dolphins Swim Club teammate and Aga Khan’s Adnan Kabuye that topped the 15 and over boys with 165 points.
Kabuye’s teammate Hannat Nakimuli topped the girls with 165 points. Aga Khan’s dominance was evident again as Selina Katumba (164) and Ben Kaganda (157) emerged best swimmers in the 13-14 years age group.
Kisu collected only 285 points but 171 of those came from Ruben White in the boys 11-12 years category and 80 from his sister Heather in the 10 and under girls group.
Yona Lumonya was the best among the young boys with 74 points.
Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) also awarded the only girls’ school present; Gayaza High School, who finished with 318 points, with the David Walakira trophy – a clock that symbolizes the team with the best participation spirit.
