Aug 10th-11th: NSSSF-KAVC International (At Lugogo, Namboole and MUBS)

Ahead of the long waited kick-off of the NSSF-KAVC international Volleyball tournament in Kampala, the local organizing committee has set up stringent guidelines  that clubs and the fans will have to adhere to ensure smooth progress of the annual event.

“Most of the regulations are streamlined to make  sure that we have a great tournament”, KAVC chairman, Mohfat Masba says. Some of the regulations include insistence on wearing the official tournament T-shirts during warm up and while out of the court.

To instil discipline among the players and officials alike, fines have been set up for sanctions as applied by the referees. For a  red card, Ushs 10,000 will be levied, while Ushs 30,000 will be charged for an expulsion and Ushs. 50,000 for both incidences that will lead to a disqualification.

The tournament, that will be inclined on all the FIVB rules is to be run by a special KAVC Competition Directorate. “Each team is permitted 2 foreign players, with only 1 allowed on the court at any given time while all locally based players are supposed to use only players who are registered with the Uganda Volleyball Federation or have participated in the National Schools’ competitions”, another rule states.

In June,National Social Security Fund (NSSF) pledged its sponsorship to the 17th edition of the Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club International tournament. Already, 11 foreign based teams have confirmed participation.

Reigning Confederation of African Volleyball Women Club and 2013 Genocide Champions, Kenya Prisons could make a stopover to neighboring Uganda on their way to the World Club Championship in Switzerland from October 8 – 13.

Sports S volleyball club are the men’s defending champions while KCCA are the women’s defending champions.
