Uganda’s Willy Deus Kitata, tees off this morning at the 51st SignArt North Carolina Open qualifier in his second tournament in the United States alongside one amateur and two professional golfers at the Rocky River Golf Club in North Carolina, USA.

Kitata, will play along his fellow amateur Patrick Cover and fellow professionals Travis DeJohn and Ralph Alfieri as he seeks to make the cut in this qualifier that has attracted several professional golfers from North Carolina together with amateurs.

The tournament is part of the Carolinas Professional Golf Association and brings together professionals and CPGA members together with Apprentices who reside in North Carolina or South Carolina and have a current United States Golf Association Handicap Index of 5.5 or less which is verified by the CPGA Professional.

Kitata played in the Wells Fargo Championship Qualifier failing to make the cut and play in the main tournament as an amateur.

The former national golf player and 2014 Uganda Open winner is the only African playing on the US circuit as he seeks to become the first Ugandan to play professional golf in the United States of America.
